Our Review/Thoughts

However when the power goes out, the clock resets and of course you can't use the other device features

The one complaint I have about this new tstat so far is that it does seem to have a cheap build quality in the plastics

(Thus why I'm giving it 4 stars, instead of 5)

My question is, why can't you use the batteries as a back up power source for when your house power goes out? Specifically, will using batteries along with your house power somehow damage the unit?2

The GC-TBZ48 is clearly intended to match the 2Gig touch screen panels and keypads, which it does very well (see pictures)

The device works great with SmartThings (v2) for your primary remote control needs such as viewing the current room temp, turning the heat on /off and of course adjusting the heat set points
