The screen did go black due to the 115 heat in Phoenix but it came back to normal once the the temp
I am pleased with this purchase
Hubby likes it for cooking meats, both in the oven and on the grill
Magnet is helpful, as is the stand up ability
I purchased this to use while smoking meats on our outdoor charcoal grill
These are a complete lifesaver (more like meat-saver), and this one is a great example
